Two very young apprentices padded through the entrance tunnel, following closely behind their leader. They'd been chosen for the gathering tonight! Their FIRST gathering! The held their tails up high, and for once, weren't trying to pick fights with eachother.

Maplepaw, the white-and-red tabby, treaded carefully, hoping not to fall all over himself, at least this once. His sister, Honeypaw, was a bit less careful, bouncing along beside her brother, her yellow-and-tortoiseshell fur swaying with every movement. She was the less clumsy of the two siblings, and felt no need to be as careful as her 'little' brother.

>ShhItsDark<
Wildsong flattened her ears back and dropped her tail as she followed her leader out of Willowclan's entrance tunnel.  She gave her pelt a gentle shake as she emerged on the other side to loosen an debris that clung to her fur.  Olive eyes reflected the full moon as she glanced up, giving a slight shiver as the wind rolled by.  Despite being a warrior for some time now, tonight's gathering would be her first.  As an apprentice, she never got the chance to go, but this time, her leader extended the invite to her as well as a couple other warriors and some new apprentices.

As excited as she was, the dappled warrior kept her outward emotions to a minimal, not wanting to disappoint her leader.  She wanted to be presented as mature and poised, yet...she couldn't help a mischievous grin from spreading across her maw, her paws practically tingly with eagerness.  Apparently, the two apprentices walking behind her felt the same.

From the corner of her eye, she caught a glimpse of them - a red and white tabby and a dappled yellow she-cat.  Wildsong gave a light laugh to herself, noticing the differences in demeanor.  The young tom was doing his best to be careful and presentable, much like Wildsong had been acting, while the brightly colored she-cat was practically bouncing off walls with uncontrollable excitement.

"First gathering?" the young warrior quietly whispered to the two, slowing pace so as to walk beside the apprentices rather than with the warriors.  She was closer to their age anyways.

As the two apprentices walked, a young warrior came to walk beside them, and they turned their gazes on her, waving their tails in unison as a friendly hello.

Maplepaw opened his mouth to speak first, a smile spread widely across his maw. But his sister, Honeypaw, cut him off. "Oh! Yes, it is! I'm so excited!" The she-cat purred. She looked over her own hyperactive paws and giggled. "I err...suppose that's not hard to figure out though!" She squeaked.

Her brother, who's smile had turned into a frustrated scowl, glared at his sister. "Yes, it's actually very obvious, Honeypaw." The tom muttered sharply. Maplepaw turned back to the warrior, nodding his head. "Yes, it's our first gathering!" He purred more friendily, his smile reappearing. "I hope it'll be great! Have you ever been to a gathering before?" He asked, eyeing the almost eggshell-tinted warrior.

>ShhItsDark<
Wildsong couldn't help but smirk to herself at the young apprentices.  The two seemed to siblings, judging but their interactions with one another.  One rather on the more polite and calm side, whereas the other was simply a ball of energy.  The young warrior gave a little laugh, looking fondly over the two.

"Well wouldn't you know, it's my first gathering as well," she admitted sheepishly, a bit embarrassed that she had never been despite her age.  "Certainly won't be my last either," she added, more to herself than to the two young felines.

"I'm Wildsong by the way," the silvery she-cat introduced herself, smiling eagerly at the apprentices beside her.

>TurkFish<
Both cat's eyes widened in surprise. "Wow! Really? Then this'll be fun for all three of us!" Honeypaw purred, swishing her tail happily behind her. She trotted along beside her brother, calming herself so she wasn't bumbling around like a mousebrain.

Maplepaw seemed to untense as his sister calmed down. At least she won't steal the spotlight from me this time. He thought, smiling smugly. If she stays calm, we're equal! As the warrior spoke her name, Maplepaw looked up at her. "Nice to meet you, Wildsong!" He purred. "My name's Maplepaw!"

Honeypaw smiled at her brother, oblivious to his jealous thoughts, then turned back to Wildsong. "Yes! Very nice to know you! My name's Honeypaw!" She purred, grinning widely at the warrior.

>ShhItsDark<
"I guess it will be," the warrior laughed in reply.  The young apprentices' enthusiasm and excitement seemed to be infectious, and soon Wildsong found herself smiling involuntarily.  Her eyes even twinkled as they introduced themselves with the same cheery attitude.

"How fitting...Maplepaw and Honeypaw," she purred, her olive eyes passing over their pelts.  The tom's was a mixture of deep reds and white, whereas his sister's was pale and golden, much like honey would be.  Wildsong watched them curiously for a moment, noticing how well their names suited them based on appearance.

Mine certainly doesn't, she found herself musing curiously, wondering vaguely why that was.  Not that it bothered her much.

"I'm guessing you two must already have your mentors assign," Wildsong mewed, still padding alongside them.  "Learn anything useful yet?" she teased, her eyes twinkling once again.

>TurkFish<
Maplepaw's quarrel with his sister momentarily forgotten, the two cats met eachother's eyes, their colorful depths gleaming, before they turned back to Wildsong, grinning. "We've learned to climb trees!" They mewed in unison, both remembering expeditions with their mentors out tree-climbing.

Honeypaw let out a purr. "Dawnpetal said that I'm great at it." She beamed, her eartips turning red as she realized her selfish gloating.

Maplepaw puffed out his chest proudly after an eye roll at his sister. "And Palefang sais I'm real good at hunting squirrels! I caught 3 in a row the other day!" He squeaked, curling up his tail proudly.

Honeypaw turned to Wildsong, her eyes glowing. "Who was your mentor?" She asked, eyeing the warriors who surrounded them curiously. "I bet he was really cool, since you're such a kind cat!" She purred.

>ShhItsDark<
Wildsong couldn't help but laugh at the two kit's eagerness, her eyes twinkling with amusement.  It wasn't so long ago when she herself had been a bright eyed apprentice.  Yet she hardly remembered those days, as her memory wasn't quite the best.

"Trees make excellent perches to look for prey from," she commented sagely, grinning to herself at the thought.  Only the other day she had launched herself from a tree branch to catch an unsuspecting and rather plump thrush.  Her olive eyes sparked with a sudden recognition as she turned to the young she-cat.  "Dawnpetal?" she mewed innocently, sure she had heard the young apprentice correctly.  "I know her...!  She's lovely company," she laughed, pleased that she had met a friend's apprentice.  "You'll make her proud, I'm sure of of."

"I haven't had the pleasure of meeting Palefang yet though," she meowed to the young tom apologetically.  "But if he taught you how to hunt squirrels so well, he must be an impressive warrior," she purred, giving a kind smile to Maplepaw.

The silvery she-cat's eyes seemed to dull with a slight sadness at the mention of her own mentor.  She gave a small smile to Honeypaw and shook her head with a sigh.

"My mentor died a while back...I ended up being shuffled from warrior to warrior, so mostly I taught myself on my own," she admitted, giving a shrugged.  Sometimes it made her feel as if she wasn't a proper warrior, but she pushed away the feeling, sure that Willowclan's leader wouldn't have granted her a warrior name if she didn't live up to the standards.

>TurkFish<
The siblings shared a quick smile as the warrior looked upon them fondly. She likes us! The both thought, excitedly. It wasn't often that apprentices appealed to warriors aside from their own mentors.

Honeypaw's eyes glowed as Wildsong spoke fondly of her mentor, and she tried her best to stifle a purr as she spoke. "Wow, really? Dawnpetal's the best ever! I'm so happy she's my mentor!" She mewed, giving a bounce of excitement.

Maplepaw let out a sigh as Wildsong spoke of his mentor, but quickly brightened up after a moment. "Well, if you do meet him, I bet you'll be impressed. He's so strong and brave!" He purred, puffing out his chest. "I'll be just like him someday!" He squeaked.

As Wildsong told the young cats of her own mentor, they exchanged a sad look, and Honeypaw pounced around to Wildsong's other side. The two apprentices brushed against her sides gently. "Wow...sorry about that..." Maplepaw murmured awkwardly.

Honeypaw let out a faint purr. "Even without a mentor, you're a great cat. I bet you're a great warrior, too!" She praised, grinning at the she-cat.

The group of cats paused as they approached the gathering place, and sat quietly, waiting for their leader's orders to let them go. Maplepaw and Honeypaw both crouched down, tails flicking eagerly.
