Personal Information

[PERSONALITY]
Kind | Fair | Calm | Wise | Protective | Distrustful

Kind
Cinderstar will always show kindness to any cat, even when the other is being rude. Cinderstar's kindness sometimes goes to the point of being creepily friendly, but it's just his way of acting. He has a smile on constantly, and if it's not there, it's very obvious to any cat that knows him that something is wrong, and things are going to get serious.

Fair
Cinderstar treats every cat fairly when it comes to disputes. That isn't always necessarily good, especially for apprentices (because when they act up in front of Cinderstar, they get double duty on chores). The only cats who get out of this treatment are kits and elders (and sometimes queens), who Cinderstar lets slip through his radar. He usually tries not to pick sides in fights, and would rather mediate on any issue that arises inside his own clan.

Calm
Cinderstar is very calm, and once again, almost to a point of it being eerie. He'll take anything thrown at him with a straight face, and deliver it back with just as straight a face. That's not to say he doesn't get wound up. He's just good at hiding it.

Wise
While Cinderstar certainly is not the eldest cat in the clan, he does posses a good amount of worldly advice for those younger than him. In his life, he's experienced a lot, and he tends to wish to pass that experience down to those younger than him. He associates a lot with elders to gain his knowledge.

Protective
Cinderstar, while he never truely lost much, feels very protective of what he has. While it's rare for him to emerge from his cover of friendly calmness, Cinderstar can show fierce protectiveness and loyalty to those he holds dear. To the point where he'll start a fight, if it's needed.

Distrustful
Most certainly wouldn't think it by just talking to him once, but after a few chats, it's plain as day that Cinderstar has a hard time trusting others. He never talks about himself and never truly shares who he is. Cat's blame this wall of his on his former mate, and if you pry hard enough, you may find that that is the right assumption. His apprentices are the only cats who ever have truly broken down the barrier that is Cinderstar since his mate left.

[HISTORY]

Before Birth & Kithood

Silverstone / Silver that Shines from Moon and Puddlegaze / Puddle that Reflects the Sky never really planned to become mates and have kits. But it looked like a night of fun had lead to consequences. Not to say that either were really upset about it. They were rather indifferent about it. While they harbored no affections to each other, they both began to harbor affection for the small life that was blooming in Silverstone's belly. Puddlegaze was there for the birth, and together they named their newborn kits Flintkit and Cinderkit.

Flintkit and Cinderkit both resembled their mother more than their father. Cinderkit only received his bright blue eyes from Puddlegaze, and Flintkit only got his wiry frame. While both parents continued to regard each other as only friends, they regarded their children as any loving parent would. They raised their kits to possess manners. While Cinderkit took more after his calm father, Flintkit took after his mother, who was usually very spunky and excited.

Apprenticeship

Cinderpaw was apprenticed under a she-cat named Doebreeze / Doe that Gallops Against the Breeze. And for a time, his apprenticeship was fairly average. Cinderpaw surprised his mentor with how quietly respectful he was, and Doebreeze found it somewhat amusing when Cinderpaw would mutter something under his breath about the other apprentices being obnoxious and unfair to eachother. He especially complained when his clanmates would gang up on one of the oldest apprentices. She was an only kit by the name of Flowerpaw. She was the eldest and biggest of the apprentices, but she was also the worst at fighting. Cats tended to use her as target practice, and while she wouldn't get badly injured, she couldn't hardly fight back for the life of her.

Cinderpaw was the only apprentice who would let her attack him. She tended to leave scratches, and then would profusely apologize later. Cinderpaw would brush it off, and say it was fair enough, though in reality, he knew he wasn't the cat that deserved scratches. It was Flowerpaw's bullies. Cinderpaw attempted to take his senior under his wing, which really was weird, but Flowerpaw appreciated it when they snuck away from camp and trained in private.

Even after Flowerpaw's ceremony, where she was named Flowerfur / Flower that Blooms at Daybreak, the two continued to meet outside of camp and train. Cinderpaw would learn from his mentor in the day time, and then teach what he'd learned in the night with Flowerfur. However, the lessons began to get shorter when Flowerfur started arriving late and retiring for the night early. This went on for moons, until eventually, Flowerfur stopped coming. Cinderpaw asked her why she never showed, and she would reply that it didn't matter, but that he needed to keep telling their clanmates that they were training.

Warriorhood

Cinderpaw was named Cinderdust / Cinder Dust that Carries River, and his brother, Flintpaw, was named Flintmist / Flint that Wards off Mist. The two brothers, while they had grown apart in apprenticeship, rejoiced together. A few days after their ceremony, Silverstone approached them and informed them that she was expecting kits. They were fairly confused at first, well aware that their parent's relationship wasn't built on anything but their existence. Silverstone told them that it wasn't Puddlegaze's kits, then. It never really bothered them, and in fact, made them happy that Silverstone was going to be happy with another tom.
Puddlegaze seemed saddened by the turn of events, but never outright protested. Cinderdust suspected his father harbored more feelings for him and Flintmist's mother than he would ever admit. Cinderdust was surprised when Puddlegaze was allowed into the den after the kits were born, and realized even if his parents weren't romantically involved anymore, that they were still very close friends. Flintmist and Cinderdust met their younger siblings after their father, and were excited as their mother to finally have a little she-cat in the family.

Cinderdust continued to sneak from camp in the night, honoring the meetings he'd agreed to with Flowerfur, even if she never showed up anymore. So it was a huge surprise when Flowerfur suddenly arrived on time one day and asked for a session. Cinderdust was happy to help, and he had to ignore the excited feeling in his fur so he could train with her. It was at that point that Cinderdust realized that he felt affections to his friend.

Cinderdust was assigned his first apprentice in his 18th moon, a young cat named Mousepaw. His days got busier and busier, between training his apprentice in the day, spending time with his half-siblings in the evening, and meeting at night with Flowerfur, he ended up exhausted when he went to bed, and that exhaustion started to follow him throughout the day. This went on for several moons, well into Mousepaw's apprenticeship. Despite his crush, Cinderdust decided it was time to call the quits on his night time training sessions. But Flowerfur wouldn't have any of it. And after a large bout of complaining, Cinderdust would never have expected to become Flowerfur's mate.

After they became mates, Flowerfur was even more adamant about their nighttime training sessions. And Cinderdust was too happy now to decline. Mousepaw was made a warrior, Mousesqueak / Mouse that Climbs Trees, and Cinderdust thought that day couldn't get better. His best friend was now a warrior, he had a mate, and his half-siblings had been apprenticed just a few days before. However, his day got much better. Flowerfur came rushing to Cinderdust that evening and begged him to mate with her. Cinderdust was geTTIN LUCKY TONIGHT.

After that night, Flowerfur refused to meet with Cinderdust except when they went out on patrols. And a moon later, when suddenly, Flowerfur moved into the nursery and he was the cat being congratulated, he didn't know what to make of it. Cinderdust was worried about how quickly his mate's stomach had swollen up. And he got even more worried when she would suddenly disappear from camp in the middle of the night.

Cinderdust was 26 Moons old when his mate had her kittens...and that was the day his world shattered, and came together all at once. Everything made sense. His Medicine Cat ushered Cinderdust into the nursery before any cat besides them and Flowerfur could see their kittens, and it was plain as day that...they weren't his. The she-cat on the left could have almost fooled him, because she had a pelt as thin and white as her mother's. But the second she-kit was red-ginger. And the excuse that it may come from different relations was highly unlikely considering both Cinderdust's and Flowerfur's colorless bloodline. The longer Cinderdust looked at them, the more he could point out traits that, even so young, the cats didn't get from him. They weren't even the same breed.
Cinderdust stayed in the den to name the kits, against Flowerfur's objections. It seemed, since she didn't have any ground to keep her secret on anymore, she wanted to be as open as possible with her beliefs. She wanted her real mate, the kits' kittypet father, to help her name them. But Cinderdust was livid, and demanded it only fair he get to name the kits he thought were his. Flowerfur quieted her fussing after a while, and they named their kittens Frostkit and Rosekit.

Deputyship

Cinderdust visited Flowerfur's kits every day, and despite her insisting to leave them alone, "you're not their father," he ignored her. It was 3 moons after the kits' birth that The Clan of Flowing Comets deputy passed away. Cinderdust was astounded to be made deputy in their place. Doebreeze and Mousesqueak later told him that they had been talking him up a lot, especially after the crushing news came that he'd been cheated on, and yet stayed so strong. Cats admired him for insisting he help father the kits, even though he obviously wasn't their read dad. Flowerfur was livid at this, and tended to get angry with her kits, as if they were the ones who had done her wrong.

A moon after Cinderdust was made deputy, Flowerfur made an announcement that she and Frosty and Rosetta would be leaving the clans to become kittypets, and live with her kittypet mate. Cinderdust stopped them before they could leave, though, and demanded custody of the kits. He claimed that Flowerfur wouldn't be able to find twolegs willing enough to take in 3 strays. Flowerfur disagreed, and when she moved to push past her deputy, Cinderdust asked what their kits thought of it all. And Flowerfur was surprised when Frostkit and Rosekit asked for their old names back, and asked to stay with "daddy" because he didn't yell at them or make them wake up early.
Flowerfur left the clan, and Frostkit and Rosekit were allowed to stay. Flowerfur's and her mate were never heard from again, and it was assumed he hadn't cared about the kittens as much as Flowerfur had thought.

Mousesqueak was given his first apprentice a few sunrises later, and it was Cinderdust's newest proudest moment, to see that his former apprentice and best friend was getting an apprentice of his own. And while Cinderdust still felt betrayed and broken, he knew he had some friends left, and his young kittens, who were being cared for by his mother in the nursery. Mousesqueak often invited Cinderdust out on patrol with him and his new apprentice, Koipaw, and Cinderdust formed a good bond with this new apprentice, too.

It was a few moons later, and a few nights after Inkpatch's / Ink that Poisons River, Shadesplinter's / Shade of Splintering Cavern, and Rabbittooth's / Rabbit that Nibbles Reedbeds - ceremony that Mousesqueak was involved in a horrible accident. The young warrior had slipped on a smooth stone, and whacked his head so hard, he's gone unconscious. Before Koipaw could even reach her mentor, Mousesqueak had drowned. Koipaw was devastated, as was Cinderdust, when his clanmates drug his former apprentice's body into camp. But a form of happiness took him over when he was assigned to take over the rest of Koipaw's training.

Frostpaw and Rosepaw received their apprentice names a few more sunrises later, and Cinderdust would take every chance he could to train them alongside Koipaw, who was one of the best behaved apprentices after her two well-working mentors. And Cinderdust trained his apprentice well, until there was no one left to train, and Koipaw was named Koifur / Koi that Dances in Pond. Koifur and Cinderdust held the same bond that Mousesqueak and Cinderdust once had, and the deputy was thankful that he still had a shoulder to lean on, albeit it was a much younger shoulder than he was used to.

Leadership

The clan was soon struck with despair when their old leader died of sickness very suddenly. No cat expected it, but Cinderdust took it in stride, and at 38 moons old, took on his position as leader, and became Cinderstar. Cinderstar was sad that he couldn't name Mousesqueak his deputy - if he'd still been alive, he surely would have, and no cat would have questioned it. But instead, Cinderstar named his former mentor, Doebreeze, as deputy.

After he became leader, Cinderstar's life began to slow down. No more unpleasant surprises hit him in the face, though he was always ready for something to go wrong. He became more withdrawn as the moons flew by, but he was proud of his clan.

His adopted kits were made warriors, Frostfall / Frost that Falls at Dusk and Roseplume / Rose that Grows Near Creek, and when he told them of their mother, they were surprisingly okay with it. They could vaguely remember turning her down, and they told him they still didn't regret leaving their clan. Cinderstar couldn't have been more proud of his kits, and despite not being related by blood, all three rarely mentioned their lack of relations.

Doebreeze retired to the elders den in one of Cinderstar's recent moons. And, while many cats expected him to name Koifur as his deputy, he instead chose Sagewhisker / Sage that Whisks in Wind as his deputy, hoping to get the younger generations of cats involved in clan life more.

Cinderstar still leaves camp at night sometimes, and while he'd be happy never to see Flowerfur again, he still craves the days back when he could train with her, and it felt like it meant something.

[ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE]

Cinderstar's blue gaze reflected sky as it went from a dark blue to a royal purple, then do an endless black with stars beginning to dance in its depths. He'd been sat outside camp for a long while, and his paws felt numb for how long they'd been in the same position. He could hear the trickling of water a few taillengths away, the river flowing by with a relaxing noise. However composed he may seem, even Cinderstar needed a few moments alone, away from his clanmates, once in a while. Though, he never strayed far, and he had one ear directed back towards camp. At the single sound of distress, he would-

Cinderstar tilted his head sideways at the sound of pawsteps, and a smile flooded his face at the sight of his former apprentice, Koifur, trudging into the clearing. For a brief moment, he'd almost expected... but he dropped that thought, and turned more wholly towards his friend, his eyes twinkling fondly as the she-cat approached him. "Good evening, Koifur. I trust camp is doing well?" He asked, standing, and the she-cat offered him a smile and a small nod, before leading him back towards the camp.

"Cats worry for you, you know."

"I know."
